Society condemns alleged murder of woman
ITANAGAR, Nov 26: Dumporijo Constituency Peoples’ Welfare Society (DCPWS) has strongly condemned the reported murder of Lt. Yagm Marde w/o Lt. Taga Marde aged about 50 years at her native village Aya Marde village under Dumporijo administrative circle. The news of such heinous crime has shaken the people of Dumporijo as it is the first incident of such kind happened till date, it said.
Marde’s body was reportedly found on Nov 23 at Aya Marde with injury marks.
The society also appreciated the prompt act of Likabali police and Talo Rebi Officer Incharge PS. Dumporijo for arresting the suspect Md. Kasim Ali, Md. Sukur Ali, and Md. Salman Ali hailing from North Lakimphur Assam at Likabali Check gate on Nov 24 when they were trying to flee away to Assam.

Union lodges complaint against PDS distributor
ITANAGAR, Nov 26: The Jigo Yego Students Union and the people of Likabali under West Siang district have lodged a complaint against the Public Distribution System (PDS) distributor M. K Poddar, (M.E.S) of Dhemaji Assam for illegally selling PDS items to open market.
In its complaint letter which was submitted to both Deputy Commissioner West Siang
and Superintendent of Police, the union and the people of the area claimed that distributor
M.K Poddar is allegedly selling PDS items which is meant for genuine card holders
to open market. It added that public is not getting essential commodities such as

Book Fair
ITANAGAR, Nov 26: A Book Fair was organized by VKV PTC Banderdewa in the school premises today as part of Library Week celebration from December 19 to 26.
A large number of people thronged the fair and enlisted their names to subscribe various magazines for their wards to encourage the reading habits of their children.
Lack of interest in book and decline in reading culture among students is a cause of major concern as it affects the overall academic development of a children, said principal of the school. This type of celebration encourages the students in developing their reading habits, he felt.

Crime against NE people in Delhi on the rise
Delhi Police registered 232 FIRs till Nov 21
ITANAGAR, Nov 26: Delhi Police has registered 232 FIRs of different types of crimes against people of North East living in Delhi so far this year, according to a report.
A total of 872 complaint calls have so far been received by Delhi Police of which 666 are crime related. Delhi Police had registered 74 FIRs in 2013.

Govt to set up committee of MPs to monitor NE projects
NEW DELHI, Nov 26: With over 700 ongoing development projects getting delayed in the northeast, government is contemplating setting up a committee of MPs to monitor such schemes in the region.
Minister for Development of North Eastern Region, Jitendra Singh said in Lok Sabha that a total of 555 ongoing projects under the Non Lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR) and 153 schemes being carried out by the North Eastern Council (NEC) are delayed due to reasons like procedural problems and hostile climates besides other reasons.
"Very soon we will be able to overcome the hurdle," he said during Question Hour.
The Minister said the government was keen to involve all the 39 MPs of the Northeast for proper implementation of developments projects and as part of the initiative a meeting of the Parliamentarians will be held next month.
On a suggestion of RP Sharma (BJP), Singh said government was contemplating setting a up a committee to monitor all development projects in the region.
Apart from providing funds under the scheme of NLCPR and NEC, funds are provided for development schemes under capacity building and technical assistance and external aided projects.

ITANAGAR, Nov 26: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. Gen (Retd) Nirbhay Sharma today called upon the people of Lower Dibang Valley district to preserve nature’s bounty, which they have inherited. Addressing the public meeting at Roing, he said that the district has huge potential for tourism, adventure sports and eco related activities. It has to be harnessed. The Governor also emphasized on promotion of handicrafts and traditional knowledge of herbal medicines.
Noting that connectivity as the major challenge, the Governor advised the people to act as a watchdog to ensure that the projects are implemented in time and quality is maintained. For society to progress, it has to be bottom up. The local people have to participate.

HIV tests conducted for Arunachal

ITANAGAR, Nov 26: Arunachal Pradesh State AIDS Control Society today conducted HIV tests of 118 inmates of the Papum Pare district jail here, IGP (Prisons) Satyendra Garg said. Garg, at whose initiative the project was launched, was the first to undergo the HIV testing.
Of the 133 inmates of the jail, 118 including seven women underwent the test. The testing programme was preceded by a counselling session for all jail officials and inmates in the jail campus for creating awareness on HIV/AIDS and the relevance of AIDS testing, Garg said.
Numerous queries from the participants were responded to by Arunachal Pradesh State AIDS Control Society (APSACS) deputy director Tasor Pali. "Come out of the social stigma against HIV/AIDS infected persons who are part of the society. Instead of boycotting or rejecting, accepting them socially would do more good to them," Pali said before Garg offered to be the first to be tested that evoked keen interest among the inmates.

As per the directive of the concerned Union Ministry, a state level painting competition was organized by Central Ground Water Board (CGWB), state unit office at the conference hall of Itanagar Municipal Council, Naharlagun today. This is the 5th state level painting competition organized by CGWB and the theme of the completion is “Save a drop, save the future.”
Out of the 50 students of class 6 to 8 standards selected by a committee of five jury members for their best paintings in school level competitions, 44 students took part in the state level competition.

ALSU opposes land compensation to Chakmas
ITANAGAR, Nov 26: Arunachal Law Students Union (ALSU) today opposed the inclusion of Chakma refugees’ names in the land affected people list for the land compensation of Greenfield Airport at Hallongi.
In a representation to the chief minister, ALSU demanded for immediate cancellation and strike out the names of 156 refugees’ from the list.
The union claimed that the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India has approved a sanction of Rs.645.72 crore for the construction of Greenfield Airport and Rs 153.46 crore for rehabilitation of 156 displaced Chakma families on 17th July 2014.
It also disclosed that the state government has decided to pay compensation to affected landowners including Chakma refugees.
It expressed apprehension that the government and authority at helms of affairs may
misappropriate the amount in the name of land compensation. It added the affected
land in which Chakma refugees fall under was part of Dropong Reserved Forest which

Alleging that kits and kins of politicians and influential people in the state are getting direct and indirect benefits from the land compensation, ALSU demanded for striking out of 263 private individual names from the land affected owners lists.
ALSU President Tadar Tarish questioned the state government decision to pay compensation to the affected people. Tarish claimed that half of the proposed site for Greenfield Airport falls under Dropong Reserved Forest area which is purely the government land and others occupied by the Chakma Refugees whom government has decided to rehabilitate at Kokila. ALSU expressed concern that if the amount sanctioned for construction of airport is used for compensation, the airport will be a reality.

Stop the extravaganza
Dear Editor,
The Delhi government recently has imposed ban on purchase of new official vehicles until the old ones complete their required life cycles. It further stated that new vehicles purchased should be of Rs 4.75 lakh or below in price.
When the government of a cash rich and economically self reliant area goes ahead with such self imposed austerity measure, shouldn’t the government of a poor and economically dependent state of Arunachal Pradesh follow suit ? Shouldn’t the extravaganza stop ?

Overloaded trucks on difficult terrains
Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed daily, I would like to ventilate some of the menace of overloading in truck destined towards difficult terrain road.
A mechanism should be there in place to regulate goods loaded in trucks destined for difficult terrain like West Siang (Silapather to Aalo). Those travelling by the road might have experienced that many trucks overloaded with goods are found parked about in the road almost blocking the road, as they are not able to move uphill with such huge load.
The load being abnormally huge, the brake pedal become incompatible to control the truck, especially while negotiating steep down road, as consequence it goes berserk, costing lives and goods.
Huge stones kept all along the road are again a menace of overloaded truck, as these trucks being unable to move upward with such huge load get stranded. The truckers use stone to secure control of the truck and after they leave the spot, these stones are kept scattered in the road.
These stones left behind by the truckers in the road become a danger to other vehicles especially when two vehicles coming from opposite direction meet in such point as they finds no place to make way for the other vehicle.
The road between Shilapatar to Aalo is narrow with no space for overtaking. Often vehicle following after such overloaded truck has to move on a snail pace all along the road.
It is therefore desirable to have a strong regulation to check overloading of trucks, especially destined towards difficult and hilly terrain.

Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed daily, I would like to make a humble appeal to our Health Minister Kaliko Pul to standardise the medical facility, infrastructures and most importantly, take necessary steps to enhance the number of doctors in the state instead of seeking mass transfer of doctors. The medical entrance examination has to be to be modified so as to increase MBBS seat from existing 30 to at least upto 100 seats under government of India. The cry for medical officer is in every corner of the state. Even in capital areas there are no surplus medical officers. Still required numbers of doctors are much less in the twin capital town as compared to the numbers of patients.
By taking consideration into all the activities undertaken by the minister, it is praiseworthy. We expect the able minister to bring more improvement into the medical scenario in the state but please avoid the process of mass transfer of doctors because nowhere in the state there are surplus doctors.

These days the RSS appears in news media in a wrong way or the other way around. I being a sympathiser of the RSS got to know and learn the organization in this way. Whereas, BJP was founded as Jan Sang in 1952 by Dr.Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, who was then an intimate friend of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Because of ideological differences between the two leaders, Jan Sang was born. Dr. Mukherjee persuaded some of the RSS members to join in Jan Sang party, from there onwards the mentor student relation of RSS and BJP began. So, even today that father son relation like bonding between RSS and BJP exists. But RSS do not interfere in day to day politics of BJP.
Many a times RSS BJP relation is portrayed in a wrong way. This wrong perception comes through media, selfish politician, pseudo secular and communist. If political leader go to social reformer, cultural reformer for interaction, that’s a good sign. Political leaders also go to RSS for their suggestion and discussion, that’s also a good sign. In fact, the working of RSS and BJP are very different, some of the BJP worker are members of RSS. If RSS members are competent, well matured, clean imaged, not selfish and dedicating their whole life for the good cause of nation, why they can’t be given the responsible post like CM/PM to run the government, for the greater interest of society and the nation? Moreover, there should be no question of tussle between RSS and BJP in the long run, since RSS is not a political party, it is simply a voluntary organization whose members love to serve for the cause of the country. Hence, I appeal all the citizens, members of society to learn more about the RSS by interacting with its members, so that you could know the real face of the RSS.

Peace and development
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reminded the SAARC leaders that violence and peace cannot go together. He called upon the member nations to combat terror and transnational crimes together in order to ensure peace in South Asia region. He was addressing the 18th SAARC summit in Kathmandu on Wednesday (Nov 26). On this day of November 26, 2008, terrorists killed as many as 166 people in Mumbai. Recalling the horror of Mumbai terror attack Modi rightly said "we feel the endless pain of lost lives. As neighbours, we should be available for each other in good and bad times."
It is not out of the perspective to mention here that when the PM was advocating for peace in the South Asia region, an Assam based insurgent outfit reportedly prepared a plan to carry out serial blasts and other subversive activities at Guwahati ahead of Modi's scheduled visit to Assam.
There is no denying the fact that most of the tourists like to visit only some selected places in North East due to wrong reason or wrong propaganda about the region.
A peaceful environment is not only necessary for development activities in North East, it also requires for making this region a tourist hot spot and hub of educational and research activities.
